INSTITUTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT OF FAMILY FARMING: COOPERATIVE PRODUCTION X AUTONOMOUS PRODUCTION
Development. Familiar farming. Cashew
Several facts in the evolution of the agrarian issue in Brazil demonstrate that the reflexes of the so-called Green Revolution were not the incorporation of all rural workers into the models of economic growth. Because of this, the objective of this study is to understand the relationship between institutions and development in different productive formats used by family farmers in the processing of cashew nuts. The delimitation covers the Córrego communities in Apodi, which operates a cooperative chestnut factory, and Amarelão in João Câmara, where chestnuts are benefited in an autonomous and rustic way by families. For that, we will fulfill some specific objectives. The first is a Participatory Rural diagnosis. The second objective is the construction of a historical reconstitution of the communities through the analysis of narratives. The last specific objective takes place in the hypothesis pursued by this research: the different trajectories of political, social and productive organization of these communities have shaped institutions that explain their levels of development. This study should demonstrate how important institutions are to guarantee rural development.
