RESUMO:

Many works indicate that from the '90s the movement around a sustainable agrifood system is growing. This is largely due to consumers questioning the quality of what they have been consuming due to food crises and criticism of the conventional model. Thus, there is a growing concern about the form of food production, associated with its origin, cultural, symbolic and environmental values. There have been some local experiences that propose alternative ways of distributing food. These initiatives are being responsible for a closer approximation of rural and consumption in urban areas, triggering what the literature has called Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC). They are the ones responsible for “shortening the circuits” of the long and anonymous supply chains characteristic of the industrial model of food production. It’s pointed out that these forms of coordination increase the autonomy of producers to capture greater value in the marketing process, given the approximation of geographical and trust relations between farmers and consumers, reducing the information asymmetry. Research on this topic is still largely concentrated in the northern hemisphere. Nevertheless, it is possible to verify how much SFSC continue to gain space as a market possibility for farmers in the southern hemisphere of the world, and because of this, research is needed to reflect on this new scenario and explain the specifics that guide this discussion. Thus, the objective of this paper is to understand how the Family Farming and Solidarity Economy Center (CECAFES) has been inserted in the context of Short Commercialization Circuits. This work has an exploratory character and will feature bibliographic and documentary review. Also, a case study on CECAFES will be used and for this, quantitative and qualitative tools will be adopted, obtained through the Central database, semi-structured and closed questionnaires. The partial results of this research indicate that CECAFES is the result of a historic struggle of family farmers, who obtained not only a space for marketing their products but also a distribution center, which allows them to access other marketing channels. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the debate about short marketing circuits and their relevance for the insertion of family agriculture in the local market, through the connection between producers and consumers.
