RESUMO:

This research tries to understand the relations between elements of the socio-spatial organization and urban mobility, ascertaining the limitations imposed by these relations to the network of action of the collective public transport system, having as study area the Functional Metropolitan Region of Natal. For this purpose, we intend to understand the socio-spatial organization of this metropolitan region, based on the association between population distribution and circulation structure, considering the variables demographic density and average monthly income. It is also sought to identify the formation and / or consolidation of new centralities - on the metropolitan scale - as poles that generate (or intensify) flows, as well as to understand the spatial interactions between the cities that make up the functional metropolitan region of Natal from the movement Pendular Finally, it is sought to understand the effects of these elements in the structuring of the road network in the collective public transport modal from its physical network of action in the Metropolitan Functional Region of Natal. The analyzes sought here will be possible from the connection between: theoretical concepts about the main themes, socio-spatial organization and urban mobility, as well as other themes associated with them; Secondary data obtained from public and private bodies and entities; And the application of spatial statistical tools based on the use of Geographic Information Systems. It is expected that the analyzes carried out in this research will lead to possible ways of solving problems related to the displacement of people in urban space, which consequently are linked to urban and regional development.
