IN THE WIND CURVE: A STUDY ON ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE FROM THE WIND FARM AT GUAMARÉ CITY – BRAZIL-RN
Environmental Justice. Environmental Inequality. Environment.
This research is focused at Guamaré city – Brazil-RN; after installation and operation of the Wind Farms. The municipality of Guamaré has it is main economic activities focused on the extraction of salt and oil, fishing and agriculture and in the last decade, the arrival of wind power plants has been gaining prominence. The objective of this work is to reflect on the concept of injustice and environmental inequality, taking as an example the implantation of Alegria I and II wind farms and their effects on the life of the population of Guamaré / RN, from the perspective of Environmental Justice. The theoretical approach used will be the perspective of Environmental Justice and environmental inequality. As regards the work already carried out on this subject, we will consider the renewable energy approaches (SIMAS, PACCA, 2012), wind energy in Rio Grande do Norte (ROZENDO, FERRAZ, BASTOS, 2014), socioenvironmental implications of a wind farm (IMPROTA, 2008), and works by Knox and Trigueiro (2014). We will also make use of a set of legal devices, which incorporate these discussions. It is an exploratory research focusing on the dialectical method, which will use bibliographical and documentary research preliminarily and then field research, using data collection instruments such as questionnaires, whose intended approaches will have qualitative bias and still use of Interview with open and closed questions. This research in itself already shows great relevance for the society and the academic world, since it is a perspective of the environmental discussion little observed. In bringing the environmental justice theory to the study in the municipality of Guamaré / RN, from the implementation of Alegria Wind Park, we hypothesize that although the production of wind energy is considered to have a low environmental impact, the changes produced in the life of the population And in the local environment for the installation of this type of enterprise, reflect in changes in landscapes, changes in the way of life of some natives and residents of the municipality, impairment of the balance of existing ecosystems, given the disparity in time between deforestation and reestablishment Of native vegetation after replanting
