SUMMARY:

In the context of the interdisciplinarity of environmental sciences, this research seeks to analyze the influence of environmental and anthropic factors on the environmental quality of the state of Rio Grande do Norte and its relationship with the health profile of the population. The thesis adopts the Environmental Health approach, recognizing it as crucial for the development of the region. The first chapter focuses on the quality of public water supply, investigating its relationship with waterborne diseases through a geospatial analysis, highlighting priority areas and emphasizing the importance of environmental management. The second chapter addresses the occurrence of cancer in relation to exposure to natural radioactivity sources, revealing patterns and emphasizing the need for health management strategies. The following chapter applies the FPSEEA Model to integrate environmental, social, and economic characteristics with the health profile of the population, providing a comprehensive representation of health and environmental quality from the micro-regions of the state. Finally, it is expected to contribute and subsidize the creation of environmental indices and indicators for the analysis of health risks and socio-environmental impacts, facilitating the planning of sanitation and health surveillance actions, contributing to environmental management, and promoting sustainability in the region.
