RESUMO:

For decades environmental issues have spread throughout the world, and discussions on these issues and their ramifications are steadily deepening. Sustainable development (SD), a theme inherent to these points, has been consolidated as a new paradigm, although it is still seen as a challenge, because it is interdisciplinary in nature, encompassing environmental, social, economic, political, citizenship and environmental aspects. education and because it is not consolidated as a concept or as a practice. Education is a way to disseminate the ideas of DS, so much so that in 2004 UNESCO was created the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), a global initiative that aimed at actions and reflections on the theme. Parallel to this, around the world, other initiatives such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) have also emerged. In Brazil, officially, the themes inherent to DS are dealt with in the documents and publications of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Environment (MMA). A facilitating tool for working in schools, the DS, are the environmental agendas, inspired by Agenda 21 and that must be deepened and regionalized. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze how official documents of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Environment, focused on basic education, address the environmental themes and under what perspectives, regarding education for sustainable development and its relations with specific issues of the Brazilian semiarid. In addition to building a sustainable school agenda that will serve as a model for all schools in the semi-arid region. When evaluating the official documents of the MEC, in relation to the DS, it was found that all the documents cover, albeit subtly, for sustainability and biodiversity is still the most accessible theme to establish relations with education for sustainable development. Meanwhile, other content for ESD in science education remains the discussion. It was concluded that for documents not to become obsolete in the face of the new world demands, they need to be restructured, new versions elaborated and old paradigms (conservationists, preservationists, utilitarians) broken. When the MEC and MMA publications were analyzed, mainly in the light of the ODS, it was perceived that in general, as publications it is not only an ecological focus, and they can break as barriers of environmentalism and enter into economic and social policies, even if is still not an ideal idea, since some of the SDG are absent in these publications. There is still a difficulty in relating environmental issues to the issue of poverty, but it is something that is necessary, there is no full DS without social justice. It is recommended that you update or release new publications for DS trends, discussions and action plans, so do not fall behind the global context. A construction of regionalized official publications is also an urgent need.
