SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze the local-regional broadcasting produced by the broadcasters that integrate the system of affiliates of RecordTV in the nine states of the Northeast region of Brazil. For investigations, the driving issue concerns the space of the venue in the broadcast produced by them, with the main hypothesis that the distance between the news events and the television channels' headquarters influences their journalistic coverage. The theoretical reference that guides the study is derived from the convergence between the Geographies of Communication (MOREIRA, 2012; SOUZA; AGUIAR, 2016), studies on Regional Media (LIMA, 2010; CAMPONEZ, 2002) and Television (BECKER, 2016; VIZEU, 2005). For empirical research, it is proposed the method of Content Analysis (BARDIN, 1977) of a sample consisting of a constructed week (SOUSA, 2004) from the own productions of these broadcasters, with the aim of critically assessing their disparities in the socio-spatial representations. It is intended, from research, to demonstrate how local-regional broadcasting contributes both to the construction of socio-cultural identity and is influenced by socio-spatial dynamics.
