The dissertation seeks to investigate the production of content with a progressive bias and the use of performative elements as media catalysts, for a process of political formation and construction of a counter-hegemonic movement in the digital environment, also understanding the powers that such performativities provide for an infiltration of mainstream media. As a central element, the research will investigate the drag queen, Rita Von Hunty (persona of the teacher and actor Guilherme Terreri) and her YouTube channel, Tempero Drag. The research path will understand the production of content on the channel and how the performing elements are arranged on the screen, mapping them and understanding their sensitive effects, in addition, it observes how the presence of Rita Von Hunty signals and, possibly, leads a progressive movement from the left on digital platforms. The research also identifies how performative allows infiltration in traditional vehicles, creating scenes of dissent in the hegemonic discourse. In a transmethodological process, this dissertation hybridizes three methods used in the human and social sciences: Content Analysis, Resistance Methodology and Netnography, to elaborate a new methodological proposal, the Infiltrated Body Methodology, which develops analytical categories in a chronological and tactical path of investigation of the media disposition of individuals and/or their communication productions. There is also the intention of proposing a performance and media infiltration concept. It is intended, from the research, to demonstrate how the union of political ideals and theoretical basis, when united to performative actions and imbued with a visible practice, contribute as an integral part of a popular process of political formation through communication.

The research aims to identify whether there are and how specific communication campaigns are offered, or not, to Venezuelan refugee populations, with a view to understanding the institutional behavior of official bodies responsible for health campaigns in relation to these refugees. We take into account the sociocultural aspects that permeate the context of migration and how the Secretaria de Saúde do Rio Grande do Norte, as well as the Ministério da Saúde (representing Brazil) have behaved in the perspective of meeting the demands that arise from of the presence of these populations in Brazilian territory, we also make observations about the Secretaria de Saúde do Estado de Roraima. Emphasis will be given to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus. In addition to surveying these actions, we will carry out our investigation from the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis, by Van Dijk (2018), which takes into account how the power relations present in media discourse are capable of perpetuating asymmetrical relationships. As it is a group with limited and minority access to basic services, compared to citizens born in the country, we also reflect on the very notion of citizenship (SANTOS, 2020) that the value of the citizen is linked to his place in the territory. Finally, we highlight the limitation found in these materials, both in numbers and access, in the portals of the two states mentioned above and the Ministério da Saúde, and the importance that International Agencies end up having when it comes to communicating with Venezuelan refugee populations. We noticed how communities are dependent on actions that come from these institutions that are partners with federal and state agencies, but which, however, end up developing most of the projects that deal directly with these people. However, despite this distance still existing, we notice the integration of new laws and the development of public policies - also involving a greater dialogue with the highlighted agencies - which project a more promising future than the revisited period. In order to contribute beyond this research, we offer a Guide for Communicators from Rio Grande do Norte, which can be used as a reflective basis for communication professionals who write, research or deal with the theme of the Venezuelan refuge in everyday life.

The questions raised about the arbitrary masculine power raised the discussion about a supposed masculine crisis, which brings with it the debate about Toxic Masculinity, as patterns of behavior with negative consequences for the whole society. Recently, the debate on Toxic Masculinity gained media space, including in the field of advertising discourses, which, due to market demands, point to the need to transform contemporary masculinities as a solution to the problems of the male gender. Based on this perspective, in this work we carried out a discourse analysis from a Foucaultian perspective, having as the corpus of the analysis three advertising videos of hygiene products aimed at the male audience. The results indicate that advertising seeks to suggest a model of flexible masculinity, associated with characteristics considered feminine and free to consume aesthetic products and services without having their masculine identity questioned. Thus, advertising subverts masculinity, reconfigures male identities and re-appropriates the hegemonic system.

Communication is strategic for social movements to gain supporters and mobilize society. With the popularization of social networks, the digital dimension has been identified as a fundamental space of dispute for the tensioning of debates held in the public sphere and power struggle by authors who study communication and social movements, such as Reis, Hostin and Peruzzo ( 2019) and Castells (2015). The cybernetic environment is, moreover, a territory massively occupied by young people. In 2020, with the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic and in a short time Brazil became one of the epicenters of the pandemic in the world, concentrating approximately half of the cases in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Studies regarding the communication of the health crisis due to covid-19 in Brazil point out that the discourse on the pandemic has become a territory of power dispute, with the media as one of the spaces of battle, and that the massive production of information on the subject, in the midst of a context of politicization and polarization, led to an “infodemic” phenomenon. In this sense, the pandemic has imposed a new reality on social movements and citizen participation of youth by prohibiting and restricting street protests and demonstrations as part of the disease prevention strategy. In this way, our study aims to understand the strategies used by a youth social movement to communicate with its young audience, issue information on the subject and mobilize this collective around emerging causes given the context of calamity. Our hypothesis is that the use of the internet, more specifically social networks, gained an even more relevant dimension as a means of communication for these mobilization networks to remain active. For this, we quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed the 3,713 original publications made by Levante Popular da Juventude on Twitter, between March and August 2020. Among the results found, we noticed that the movement adapted the agitation and propaganda strategies already used offline, mainly through coordinated actions to promote hashtags on a subject and live transmissions of political debates.

With the effervescence of digital social networks and a new logic of media redemocratization, which allows the public to produce content for the internet and interact with its users, the number of profiles, so-called journalistic ones, especially those with a police content, has been occupying massive digital spaces like Instagram. The facilities and set of functionalities of these social networking platforms have also allowed people to share prejudiced beliefs on the internet, disseminating and reinforcing their speeches in a particular form, speed and scope in the most diverse social contexts. This research, therefore, seeks to analyze the discourse of good citizens through the racist and lgbtphobic manifestations of @noticiasnoface on
Instagram, through an analysis of publications and comments from April 2020. Using Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (2018) and other authors who think about power, control, media and issues of race and sexuality, we propose to unveil the abusive power relations present in hate speeches that perpetuate inequalities under a dominant posture. As well, we reflect on racism and lgbtphobia as a structure that underlies the discursive practice of the aforementioned profile. The results of the analysis of the posts show that @noticiasnoface, in addition to producing and repercussing racist and lgbtphobic speeches, reinforces social stereotypes about these bodies, encourages hatred and violence and acts based on a supposed freedom of expression, even if their speeches ridicule, nullify and deny the existence of racialized and LGBT+ people. This leads us to comprehend that the good citizen is built from several elements that structure the profile discourses.

The present dissertation analyzes the documentary 7 denunciations: the consequences of the Covid-19 case, by the company and audiovisual content producer Brasil Paralelo. It discusses the participation of that company in the dissemination of government speeches during the Covid-19 pandemic. It aims to analyze how the effect of a sense of reality is built, in the context of the pandemic and its consequences, from the agency of certain discursive memories (ORLANDI, 2012) are used and serve as a structure for the diffusion of the filmic discourse. For this, filmic analysis (AUMONT; MARIE, 2004; VANOYE; GOLIOT-LETÉ, 2002) and discursive analysis (ORLANDI, 2013; PECHÉUX, 1990; COURTINE, 2013) of the documentary are proposed, in order to identify the discursive and ideological formations. We start from the hypothesis that the documentary serves as a tool for spreading disinformational narratives, considering the form and content in an environment controlled by big techs, in this case Google, owner of the social network YouTube, which hosts the film.

This research is a discourse analysis of the reports directed to the Public Communication of Science of the Jornal da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), from the constitutive discourse conception of science, and therefore of paratopia, for the purpose of the university's ethos of discourse construction. The empirical object was the Jornal da USP, with temporal corpus being the period from August to September 2021 and the online domain of the portal (https://jornal.usp.br/) as spatial corpus. The theoretical object was the Discourse Analysis, with the theoretical line focused on Maingueneau (2006, 2010). Throughout the study, it was found that science, as a constituent discourse and under effect of paratopia, instigates society and promotes sociodiscursive roles, as is the case of Public Communication of Science. It was observed that in the process of the enunciation of the news, the scientific researches developed at USP have the university as a legitimating force, at the same time that the ethos of the institution itself is constructed and reinforced by this same discourse. The dissertation contributes to the improvement of reflections on Public Communication of Science of Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICTI).

The media has occupied a central position in Brazilian politics, mediated by government communication advisors, which reproduce administrative or governmental political discourses in the production of institutional news content. In this context, the dissertation seeks to understand how discursive formations are produced in the news posted by the Government Communication Office to contribute to efficient Public Communication. And this is the problem question of the research. It raised the hypothesis that the communicational strategies built by governmental communication advisory offices have developed a more institutional communication, aligned to the political interests of the government, limiting its contributions to develop a democratic communication, which prioritizes the public interests and foments the exercise of citizenship in the construction of the public discourse. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the enunciates of the news published on the government portal, to identify the type of predominant communication in the discursive media practices of Assecom/RN, from Discourse Analysis and theoretical perspectives of the field of the Public Communication. The research is fundamentally qualitative, as it is characterized as an analytical and descriptive-exploratory study, which develops a French-line Discourse Analysis, grounded in Pêcheux (1975, 1988, 2009), Maingueneau (1984/2015), Orlandi (1989/2012), Brandão (2004, 2012) and Fiorin (2012), as well as establish theoretical relations with the doing Public Communication, under the conceptual perspective of Zémor (1995), Duarte (2006, 2007), Brandão (2007) and Matos (1999). The analysis of the results it is empirically verified the democratic contributions of the government communication advisory, in the production of meanings of their discursive and inter-semiotic practices, which generate communicative processes in the narratives of the posted news.

Digital platforms have played a significant role in the communicative articulation between human and non-human actors in digital social dynamics. Hate speech and misogynistic attacks have shaped the online world as yet another space for violence. Therefore, this research described the social around the term Rape Culposo through messages (tweets) associated with the hashtag #NãoExisteEstuproCulposo on the platform, Twitter. We use the theoretical framework of the Actor-Network Theory (LATOUR, 2012, 2007; LAW, 1999; CALLON, 1986) operationalized through the Cartography of Controversies (VENTURINI, 2010) to understand, from the Mariana Ferrer case, which are the discourses on the bodies and rape culture permeated and reverberated on the platform. Based on authors who think about gender violence (BUTLER, 2018), ideological bubbles, (SODRÉ, 2021), power and domination (BOURDIEU, 2012), online platforming (DANDREA, 2020). In the results, from the cartography of the social it was possible to delineate the set of human and non-human actors enunciated and discourses associated in a network in the attack of progressive vehicles, blaming women and the polarization between groups.Gender Violence, Twitter, Actor-Network Theory, Online PlatformsGender Violence, Twitter, Actor-Network Theory, Online Platforms

The research has as its main objective to analyze the telejournalistic narratives about homeless women, understood as a heterogeneous group of women who have no fixed address and use the streets as a place to live. The programs "Câmera Record" and "Repórter Record Investigação", both broadcast by Record TV, will be analyzed, seeking to understand how these stories are told to the public and what meanings they produce. For this, a survey of the editions produced between the years 2017 and 2022 was carried out, adding up to eleven stories, which constitute the corpus of analysis. The time period was chosen based on the problematic of the street situation, which has worsened over the years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the drop in the Human Development Index (HDI) in the country. The work uses a combination of the methodologies of Film Analysis (PENAFRIA, 2009); Content Analysis, based on BARDIN (2011) and Intersectional Roulette, proposed by CARRERA (2020). The research categorizes and analyzes the reports produced by the programs specified here make use of a predominantly melodramatic language to present the situations of social vulnerability to which these women are subjected.

For centuries, gender differences were evidenced by biological determinism. So, the so-called "social roles" that women and men should play were socially established, in addition to the spaces they could occupy. In sports journalism, male participation is still massive, but women have been conquering space in places that were previously occupied mainly by men, as is the case of sports narration. Therefore, this research seeks to analyze how twitter profiles manifest themselves about the participation of women in the narration of games of the 2021 Brazilian Football Championship (brasileirão). It also aims to identify and categorize the types of symbolic gender violence that the narrators suffer. The investigation is developed through thematic analysis and social network analysis and uses authors who talk about gender and sport as it bases. The results demonstrate that Twitter users, through comments, reproduce sexist, misogynistic and prejudiced speeches against the female narrators, for acting in functions that were performed predominantly by men.

The objective of this research was to analyze the representation of blackness in horror films, based on the conceptualizations by Denise Ferreira da Silva, through contemporary horror cinema. The research question was: what can horror narratives reveal when they are read, felt, and experienced through the lens of race? Four horror films were selected according to established criteria in the research. The films were watched, and their narratives were explored in terms of language, concepts, and imagery to compose an essay that addresses a multitude of issues, supported by theories and studies from communication, philosophy, psychology, quantum physics, conspiracy theories, and pop culture. The four main Brazilian films used as narratives were: "As Boas Maneiras" (2018), "O Rastro" (2017), "O Nó do Diabo" (2018), and "O Clube dos Canibais" (2018). In addition to these main films, secondary films were used, such as "Panic Room" (USA, 2002), "Population 436" (USA, 2006), "Under The Shadow" (IR, 2016), "Trabalhar Cansa" (BR, 2011), "Alien Nation" (USA, 1988), "Nope" (USA, 2022), and "Fresh" (USA, 2022). The research methodology was guided by the proposals of Roldán and Viadel (2012), according to which the reflection on narrative and argumentative structure in visual discourses for visual arts research finds some possibilities of exploration in film editing. Important theoretical frameworks for the essay construction include the ideas of philosophers Denise Ferreira da Silva (2022), Audre Lorde (2019), Patricia Hill Collins (2019), bell hooks (2019), and Angela Davis (2016). The research was also heavily inspired by the theorizations of African-American researcher and filmmaker Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman (2019) on black horror cinema in the United States. The concept of hybrid warfare commonly used in militarism/politics was also significant. Other equally important references make up the essay. As a result, the analysis revealed the multiple conceptual possibilities that horror narrative plots can point to when considered in their symbolic plane to think about issues related to race and colonialism.

The period surrounding the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff (PT) was one of intense political and social unrest in Brazil. The articulated movement for its withdrawal represented a whole change of government platform with cuts in public investment in education, health and social policies, in addition to the reduction of labor rights, weakening the most needy population. A process that took place with the active participation of the corporate press, also called the mainstream press due to its high economic power, in addition to different economic sectors, such as industry and financial institutions. In addition to what was recorded by the major newspapers, whether printed, televised, transmitted via radio or internet, the moment caught the attention of a number of documentary filmmakers who, in turn, mobilized to record this historical period, still recent and in unfolding. Thus, in this dissertation, we will make a narrative and filmic analysis of the documentaries O Processo (2018); The Wall (2018), Your Excellencies (2018); Vertigem Democracy (2019) and Our Flag Never Will Be Red (2019), in order to situate these productions in terms of their narrative strategies in the affective mobilization of the spectator public since, as an artistic and documentary expression, the documentary carries in itself the issues of their time, as pointed out by researchers Piero Sbragia, Bill Nichols and Francis Vanoye and Anne Goliot-Lété.

The pandemic news represented a change in the production routine of television news, as The coverage of the pandemic represented a change in the production routine of television news, as journalists had to maintain social distance to avoid getting sick. But while reporters and sources, or even journalists and viewers, were distant as a security measure, on the other hand, there was a reformulation in the language of television news, with the use of videos, photos and interviews done remotely, through cell phones and with broadcast programs over the internet. This research intends to understand the (re)configurations from Covid-19, using local news from Globo in the Northeast as an object, seeking meaning in the proximity established with viewers, focusing on the news produced in the capitals of PB, PE and RN . Through the Content Analysis of these local newscasts, the types of interviews that remained after the peaks in cases of Covid-19 will be identified: remote or face-to-face / synchronous or asynchronous / recorded or live, with specialists / people and local / regional sources / national/international. Researches on journalistic coverage in times of pandemic, by authors such as EMERIM et al. (2020) and BELÉM et al. (2020), in addition to the interface concept SCOLARI (2018) will be fundamental for building an understanding of these changes. As a hypothesis, we have posited that the concept of proximity in the voices of the local television news, which has always been fundamental for the construction of meaning in the reports, has become even more fluid and the use of multiple and distant sources has become a permanent reality since the pandemic, causing a lowering of production routines and more agility in the process of building reports and the television news itself.

This research proposed to investigate the use of narrative feature “whodunnit” in Brazilian telenovelas that tell stories of several ways and show to the TV viewer narrative that are identified through codes and the authorial mark. Originated from detective stories, this question engages the audience due to the mystery and suspense in the chapters. The telenovelas The Next Victim, aired in 1995, and The Party, the 2014 remake of the 1974 namesake, ground the plot using the narrative device from beginning to end. Under this particularity, this master’s thesis intent to respond to the question how the narrative device is constructed in The Next Victim and The Party. Thus, this research aims to analyze the narrative construction of this device in these productions through distinct styles in each other. The theoretical basis is MARTÍN BARBERO (1997), PALLOTTINI (2012), SOUZA (2004) and LOPES (2003, 2009, 2014) for telenovela, BORDWELL (2005) and ROCHA (2016) for television styles and Todorov (2006) regarding narratives. The methodology has Critical Narrative Analysis (MOTTA, 2013) and Television Style (BUTLER, 2010).We can verify through the research that the storyline of telenovelas investigated clarifies the intentionality of each production as an attempt to break the way of telling stories of Brazilian telenovelas.

The media, at times, has contributed to perpetuating a negative and stereotyped image of public health in Brazil. Despite the SUS facing challenges and difficulties, there are many programs that are resolute and that benefit thousands of Brazilians. The Unified Health System has even saved thousands of lives in the Covid-19 pandemic. So we start from the assumption that the SUS was built through struggles and social movements, that it is a heritage of the Brazilian people and that it needs a less prejudiced look on the part of journalists and communicators who cover public health services. The present research, therefore, seeks to analyze the social representation of public health in the news published in the ABTV 1st and 2nd Edition of TV Asa Branca, an affiliate of Rede Globo, located in the municipality of Caruaru - Pernambuco, between 2014 and 2016. For that, we will use the theoretical framework of Social Representation (MOSCOVICI, 1978, 2009); Communication and Health (ARAÚJO, 2007, 2014, 2015); SUS (PAIM, 2019); Newsworthiness Criteria (TRAQUINA, 2005), (SILVA, 2005), in addition to stressing and reflecting with other authors who deal with regional media and regional television journalism. Our methodology is based on Content Analysis (BARDIN, 2011).

The study presents a discursive analysis of a total of 17 episodes of the podcasts A Terra é Redonda and 37 Graus. It seeks to identify and understand the discursive strategies adopted by new narrative formats of sound media, analyzing how they operate in scientific dissemination through resources such as storytelling and literary journalism. To this end, Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (2001, 2003) is used as the main theoretical foundation, in addition to the Case Study (GIL, 2007) and the contributions of authors who work with science communication and scientific journalism. . The methodology adopted has the episodes of the podcast 37 Graus and A Terra é Redonda as an empirical object, from February to July 2020, during the pandemic. Thus, the analysis sought to contribute to reflections on science communication for the development of new possibilities for scientific dissemination. The study concluded that based on the use of storytelling strategies and literary journalism resources, podcasts provide communication of science in an interactive way, through an informal and emotive language, giving the listener a broader dimension of the scientific process, being informative and provoking their reflection on the theme.

The aim of this research is to analyze symbolic representations in the films Wings of Desire (Der Himmel Über Berlin) by Wim Wenders (1987) and Undine (Undine) by Christian Petzold (2020), using expressions of the imaginary, memory and myth as parameters. These concepts are intertwined through a common basis, which is the theory of the image. Human beings construct mental representations of the world based on their previous and current imaginary experiences, which generates information in their mental universe about themselves and the environment in which they are inserted, including the social, cultural and historical. In order to deal with this intertwining, the notions of representation and the symbolic are also used, which make it possible to give an expression and a comprehensive meaning to imagetic, imaginary, mnesic or mythical manifestations. Symbolic representation is part of the evolutionary and historical process of humanity and is suggestively manifested in the films analyzed through images of angels, air, nymphs and water. Such manifestations allow for possible reading keys and reflections on social relations, phenomena and spaces in film narratives, including historical and contemporary situations in German society. In order to understand this, theoretical-methodological procedures are adopted, such as the qualitative approach (MINAYO, 2009; CHIZZOTTI, 2005), through film analysis (PENAFRIA, 2009; VANOYE, GOLIOT-LÉTÉ, 2012), of the elements of expression, their symbolism and contexts.

This research proposes an analysis of the enunciation of the documentary Olmo e a Gaivota (2014), codirected by the directors Petra Costa and Lea Glob, aiming mainly at its ethical position, both in the way of addressing to the spectator and in the relationship that the filmmakers establish with the characters. We will look at the history of the documentary, aiming at possible enunciation modes and its transformation from the classic documentary to the contemporary - considering, especially, the meanings that emerge from the 1960s with the rise of aesthetics and theoretical aspects that present ruptures in relation to the dominant linguistic and conceptual structures. Enunciation in cinema goes from the film production process to the moment of its destination. Thus, with regard to the production process of the work, considering the mise-en-scène as a structural element of the documentary narrative, the analysis mobilizes, mainly, the concepts of “self-mise-en-scène” and “risk of the real” by Comollii (2008), and “virtualization” in Rezende (2016). Segundo (2016)'s notion of self-fiction character serves us in the analysis of the direction/character relationship. And, with regard to the style, ethics and destination of the film, we will observe the way in which it is positioned in a modest way, raising questions related to the first person documentary.

The northeastern wilderness, its subjects and cultures have consolidated themselves as a recurring space in Brazilian audiovisual, often associated with elements such as drought, violence and the permanence of tradition (ALBUQUERQUE JÚNIOR, 2011). And national television, whose main fictional product is the telenovela, also followed this path, especially because of its concern with creating a narrative of the nation (LOPES, 2003). This research, therefore, starts from the understanding of the images of the sertão constructed in the audiovisual to investigate how television production practices approach this space under the logic of the aesthetics of repetition (CALABRESE, 1987), a tendency that attributes to part of Western cultural creations a constant dialogism. , marked by the production of novelty in a scenario of repetitions. The empirical object chosen is the serial fiction work Onde Nascem os Fortes (TV Globo, 2018), which set its story in a space presented as a sertanejo. The objective will be to identify how the northeastern wilderness elaborated in the production reflects possible articulations between the traditional images of this space and constructions associated with the novelty, with a focus on place indicators, characters and themes. The investigative path adopted will seek to integrate the propositions of Jost (2007), on television research as a joint broadcast, with the Analysis of Audiovisual Materiality (COUTINHO, 2016), a methodology that proposes a look at the works as the union between , sound, text, timing and editing. The research hypothesis is that Onde Nascem os Fortes builds a contemporary sertão, in the sense of the polyphony proposed by Moreira (2018), but still maintains traditional elements associated with the wilderness, such as drought and an endogenous vision of justice.

This research is based on the development of studies on masculinities that began in Brazil in the 1990s, highlighting the recognition of multiple forms of masculinity. Both the negative and positive aspects of masculine constructions that are less prominent or associated with negative connotations are analyzed, recognizing masculinity as a plural category that encompasses various forms of identities. It explores the presence and manifestation of masculinities in social movements, including the LGBTQIAP+ movement, as well as their representation in discourses influenced by the media. The study focuses on the Instagram profile @papodehomem, known for addressing discussions about masculinity in an intersectional way and based on the search for gender equity. The profile offers practical advice to drive changes in the understanding of masculinities, bringing real examples and cases related to these expressions. The main objective of the research is to analyze the discourse produced by @papodehomem, investigating its performance as a producer of meanings about contemporary masculinities, through its posts on Instagram. The theoretical foundation is based on renowned authors such as Connell (2013, 2015), Scott (2012), Butler (2018), Januário (2016) and Kimmel (2008), who provide theoretical support for the discussions undertaken. The dissertation is structured in four main chapters. The first chapter addresses the archaeology of masculinities, presenting a historical perspective of the conceptions of masculinity over time. The second chapter discusses the influence of cyberspace and media activism on social movements, particularly with regard to digital social networks. The third chapter presents the methodological assumptions used in the research, highlighting the qualitative method used, Netnography, following the studies of Kozinets (2014), to understand the digital environment of Instagram @papodehomem. In addition, Discourse Analysis is used based on the conceptions of Michel Foucault (1996), aiming at understanding the meanings produced by the profile in relation to contemporary masculinities. Finally, the fourth chapter focuses on the analysis and discussion of the results obtained, revealing the important role played by @papodehomem in deconstructing hegemonic narratives about masculinities. By questioning and deconstructing entrenched expectations based on gender stereotypes, the profile promotes a dynamic and inclusive conversation that embraces the diverse expressions of contemporary masculinities in a progressive and emancipatory way.

This study is part of the list of those who seek to investigate aspects of the professional identity of Brazilian journalists, in particular, the career of journalists from Rio Grande do Norte. Career is a concept that has been studied since the beginning of the 20th century in the areas of Social Sciences, Psychology and Administration, with common sense associated with the latter, mainly with aspects of ascension and professional success. Here, career is understood as a concept in which the individual's movements within their profession and their subjective perception of their work coexist (BECKER, 2008; CHANLAT, 1998; BENDASSOLLI, 2009; RIBEIRO, 2011). The interest in the subject came from observing, as a journalist, the closing of several press vehicles in the State, during the 2010s, especially the printed ones, reducing the number of jobs in this segment and affecting the chances of mobility. Consequently, these changes also affect journalists' perception of their world of work and their position in it. To understand this scenario, our main objective was to find the symbolic connections between the individual professional trajectories of these actors in order to establish a collective perception about the career of a journalist in Rio Grande do Norte. To this end, we adopted the Foucaultian perspective of device (FOUCAULT, 1998, AGAMBEN, 2009; DELEUZE, 2015) to observe the world of Potiguar journalism and extract its current state through the subjectivation of its individuals. Empirically, we carried out a quantitative survey with the aim of profiling local journalists, and in-depth interviews with professionals who participated in the survey. Together, the data from the poll and the interviews show that the world of journalistic work in Rio Grande do Norte has demanded greater training and availability from the individual who intends to build a career there, while facing problems in giving continuity to the existence of journalistic companies; acting in press relations is a viable career option; experienced journalists are passed over due to high salaries and tend to leave the profession over time.

This thesis is the result of a long journey entangled in the struggle of communities that face the developmental and exclusionary model of the city incorporated by the Lagoas do Norte Program (LNP). A so-called urbanistic program that has been dispossessing hundreds of families along the Parnaíba and Poty rivers, around the lakes in the northern part of the capital of Piauí, Teresina. Amidst the tactics and strategies carried out in defense of the territory, we propose to take a look at the communicative ways of the local population, which in turn present us with a vast knowledge, invite us to co-create other possible communications from the subaltern sectors, which keep ancestral sciences and technologies. The objective was to analyze the insurgent and popular communication with the knowledge and practices of those affected by the Lagoas do Norte Program in defense of the right to the city. To this end, we propose to map Esperanças' communications with those affected by the Lagoas do Norte Program from the communicative processes underlying the self-organization practices in defense of the right to the city, with a territorial focus on Av. Boa Esperança; discuss the history/memory of the community and describe the foundations of community wisdom – having as a driving force the philosophies of Well living and Ubuntu – of popular and insurgent communication processes; identify aspects of communication that enunciate hopes for the threatened community. To achieve our objectives, the transmethodological approach (EFENDY, 2016) served as a contribution, building a walking method inspired by Latin American steps, as it is willing to decolonize cartesian science, putting in place the model of convertibility (FLEURI, 2019 ) and the Horizontal Production of Knowledge (HPK) (BERKIN, 2019), Social Cartography (ACSERALD, 2010) dialoguing with Sentimental cartography (ROLNIK, 1989). For the production of data, also weaving dialogues with orality and life stories to map the communicative processes of hope. In this path we walk with authors such as Bispo dos Santos (2015); Quijano (2013); Villanueva (2017; 2018); Krenak (2019); Ramose (1999); Mignolo (2017); Berkin (2019); Martin-Barbero (2002); Sodré (2019; 2006; 2002). In our conclusions, we reveal a communication that rises from the epistemes and ancestral anthologies kept by the community that invite us to an integral and active communication, as it is designed as a condition for the elaboration of the collective word that claims the right to the city and housing. This communication denotes senses of Well Living and Ubuntu, as references that allow thinking about other sociabilities. It is with these referents that we find the quadruple communicative power that is presented through mobilization, information, popular education and organization, which we call the circularity of communicative confluences. We also conclude that this thesis strengthens the community, communication, the research and academia, as it allows theoretically to weave in the science of the common (SODRÉ, 2015): which is to communicate, feel and listen and be always attentive to all the noise in the movements of life that pulsates. What is common is spoken and lived life– of collective enunciation, where there is always the echo of countless voices that demand space to say the collective word.

In this text, we present the aquilombamento virtual midiático (AVM) as a thesis proposal. This is a methodological movement to study how brazilian black media operate, based on three main theoretical bases: quilombismo (NASCIMENTO, 2019), bios virtual (SODRÉ, 2002) and the political concept of quilombo (NASCIMENTO, 2014); and three methodological references: transmetodologia (MALDONADO, 2011), afroperspectivismo (NOGUERA, 2014) and roleta interseccional (CARRERA, 2020). By black media we mean a articulation of insurgent communicational experiences that (co)move people in the rewriting of different narratives about black people. They are groups encouraged by struggles against structural racism and other possible intersectionalities, such as sexism, the danger of a single story, domination, the hegemony of the mainstream media and its agenda, invisibility, the social and cognitive injustices of the world, exclusion and media coloniality. They can be seen, therefore, as groups with a significant decolonial feature. Inspired by the trails that enslaved blacks people opened in the woods on their escape to the quilombos, the AVM develops in three routes: 1) Sankofa movement; 2) recognition of escrevivências; 3) basket of voices. The empirical reference includes six black media groups: Alma Preta, Mundo Negro, Negrê, Notícia Preta, Portal Geledés and Revista Afirmativa. We justify the analytical clipping because they are media practices developed in digital environments that consider as their central objective the breaking of the the single story logic and the producing content directed to the issue of race and other lines of oppression. For data collection, we articulated some tools such as interviews, virtual non-participant observation and bibliographical research. A methodological approach from AVM shows us that the brazilian black media consider communication and, specially, journalism, as a alternative opposition to the coloniality of the hegemonic media and for the construction of new matrices of visibility about black people. We conclude that the digital black media are heiresses of the black resistance since the colonial period and these groups find in the quilombos an ancestral instrument to build a ideia of an antiracist journalism. As main references for the preparation of this thesis, we have authors such as: Abdias Nascimento, Beatriz Nascimento, Clóvis Moura, Conceição Evaristo, Edison Carneiro, Grada Kilomba, Lélia González, Muniz Sodré, Sílvio Almeida and Sueli Carneiro.

The media has become increasingly relevant in shaping memories in society. And advertising, constitutive of the media system, triggers these memories in the structuring of their narratives and puts into circulation ways of interpreting human practices in their times. In this context, this investigation has the general objective of elucidating how the marks of temporality and memory of events and the corresponding social practices of a historical period are expressed as an advertising narrative. This is of interest to the field of communication research as it envisions possibilities for reinterpreting communication processes immersed in another temporality. It is based on the interlocutors who debate the ideas of place and territorialization and their insertion in the context of communication, from which the notion of translocal advertising is proposed. It is based on authors who discuss the relationship between media communication and the fields of time, event and memory, in order to situate the participation of narratives and social practices of advertising in the production of these dimensions - from which it is suggested the notion of advertising event. Empirically, we observe the advertising production printed in the newspaper A República, published in the context of the Second World War (from 1942 to 1945, specifically) in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil). It starts with a sampling of 681 printed advertising units (UPIs) that are submitted to a descriptive-interpretive analytical treatment, based on a specific coding framework, based on the methodological process of content analysis. The analysis is divided into two parts: the first (content plan) with a predominantly quantitative approach and encompassing all UPIs; the second (expression and layout plans), more qualitative and applied to the 142 UPIs linked to the war context. As for the quantitative focus, the results confirm that the context of the war had less impact on advertising messages compared to the total number aired in the period, considering that there was no developed advertising communication structure in Rio Grande do Norte; that the association with the war event is a characteristic present mainly in the advertisements of international companies, reinforcing an external view of the conflict. As for the qualitative, it appears that the deductive mechanisms of representation of human relations and practices emerge in the advertising message as symbolic resources accessible to the context of consumer reception; that link between advertising and ideology is structured as a narrative, associating foreign war values and people's cultural and consumption habits in messages. These aspects help support the thesis that advertising can be a participant and builder of a certain historical dimension, enabling and mobilizing memories and an expression of transformations and permanence in human relationships and practices.

This doctoral thesis studies the local media consumption practices on channel 4 in Currais Novos/RN. The city, located in Brazil’s poorest and most stigmatized area, the sertão nordestino, stands out in the history of Brazilian media for being the pioneer in the cable television industry in the Northeast region. It is also peculiar because it is considered a small city – with an average population of 45 thousand inhabitants – with six television stations exclusively featuring local content. Therefore, it differs from the typical characteristics of municipalities considered news deserts in Brazil (ATLAS DA NOTÍCIA, 2021), in other words, that do not have journalistic vehicles and, consequently, significant press coverage. Thus, to understand the local television media consumption practices and how they occur via channel 4 in Currais Novos/RN, we developed a hybrid methodological path, which began with the selection of five family houses and, then, with the use of four data collection instruments: a) semi-structured audience questionnaire; b) consumption diaries; c) non-participant observation, and d) in-depth interviews. The empirical data gathered from the field research were articulated with our theoretical contributions, governed primarily by the concept of consumption (BAUMAN, 2008; BAUDRILLARD, 2007; JENKINS, 2009; MILLER, 2007; TAPSCOTT & WILLIAMS, 2007). In addition, the methodological basis was developed from questions about audience studies with an emphasis on media consumption studies (TOALDO & JACKS, 2013; WOTTRICH, 2017). With the analysis carried out, this thesis exposes six categories of local media consumption practices in Currais Novos/RN: use of devices, recognition of the other, place of consumption, self-recognition, sociability, and television media (local). The research reveals in 24 claims about local television consumption practices in Currais Novos/RN, confirming previous hypotheses, such as the predominance in the use of the television set in local consumption, the zapping effect (switching channels) throughout the program is null or low, and that local television consumption essentially takes place at home, in the nuclear family.

ABSTRACT
Technological advances point to paths of rupture, uncertainty and inexorability. In an accelerated way, we see the most diverse sectors of the market being reconfigured. Technologies developed from Big Data systems and tools are not the epicenters of these transformations. Refusing speculations that perceive the algorithmic language as a parallel universe or something very far from the current reality, this research aims to investigate the skills that Brazilian professionals in the Advertising area need to acquire to operate in a global market that has made the datafied consumer its protagonist. As a strategy to draw the path that Advertising needs to measure, we intend to base our discussions around methodologies such as theoretical-systematic research, bibliometric research, empirical research with direct observation, interviews, field diary and participation in the process of building teaching practices. The empirical research will take place in the Advertising courses of two private colleges (Estácio/RN and Iesp/JP) and one federal university (UFRN). The methodological decisions will be reconciled with the socio-semiotic theoretical approach worked by LANDOWSKI (2014) whose formation implies four types of interaction regimes, essential to classify the interaction logic of the datified consumer with the algorithmic systems. To understand the links between the mediations, the network and the members of this interconnected system, we adopted the Actor-Network Theory (LATOUR, 2012; LEMOS, 2013, 2016). In order to problematize the brazilian reality, specifically in the field of Advertising, we use the studies of BRUNO; CARDOSO; MELGAÇO; GUILHON and KANASHIRO (2019). These observations on the methodology add knowledge for an understanding of scientific research that aims to suggest analytical-methodological categories, such as understanding the communicational, social and educational practices in Advertising courses, considering the technological changes that the world has been going through. Considering the disputes that occur today from informational territories, we understand that the achievements of science represent an opportunity, but only if there is a new social pact between governments, the private sector, academia and the dicent community, in order to change education systems and the way countries tackle technological problems. The purpose of the research, therefore, is to understand the processes of understanding communication and advertising so that the modus operandi of this market does not distance itself from the social, economic, political and marketing reality, but anticipates or at least follows the changes. already outlined.

Personal needs (material and affective) are exposed daily on Brazilian television in politically and business-interested shows, a symbolic violence with traces of abuse of power disguised as social action. It is in this media environment that this research is framed, which has as its object the assistencialism practiced by the presenter Luciano Huck and, as a starting point, the following problem: how this television strategy establishes material and affective relationships with the public. The objective is to identify and analyze the characteristics of the presenter's speech, which, among other categories, we propose to call neokitsch assistencialism, as a retrofit of coronelism. We understand that the study can contribute to the field of research in communication by proposing, in addition to an aesthetic rating of assistencialism, the discussion of concepts such as the electronic halter: an affective link with political connections established with the public from the resolution of emotional and material problems, as did the colonel, a historical character from a period that Vilaça and Albuquerque (1978) call “feudalismo matuto”. Furthermore, we consider the importance of analyzing this strategy within the spectrum of media discourse studies. We apply adapted methodological tools, which include televisual analysis, discourse analysis (French school) and critical discourse analysis. Regarding coronelism, the theoretical framework is based on Leal (2012), Vilaça and Albuquerque (1978) and Vilela (2008). Regarding assistencialism, we adopted Alayón (1995), Mota (2010) and Sitcovsky (2009) as reference. We also take as a reference Weber's (2004) concept of charismatic domination, as well as reflections on popular TV programs by França (2006) and Araújo (2006). About the political bias, reference in Gomes (2004) and Aldé (2004). In the exercise of assistentialist actions, Luciano Huck has difficulties in dialoguing with poorer people and with that reverberates prejudices typical of a conservative (with an air of modernism) and elitist discourse. Based on this panorama, we argue that this discourse of coronelism in a retrofit version is presented as an electronic halter project based on solidarity. Paradoxically, it separates the two sides of the issue, as it contributes little or nothing to solving the assisted's problems, from a structural point of view.

This research aimed to identify, analyze and delimit the phases of television development in Rio Grande do Norte. To this end, the trajectories of Rio Grande do Sul broadcasters were selected as empirical objects, between 1972 and 2022, to identify a periodization of regional media (Rossetto, 2009). The present investigation was justified by the lack of research on TV in the state and the lack of a periodization of television media in Rio Grande do Norte. The investigation was theoretically based on studies by Mattos (2010a, 2010b), Barbosa (2010), Bolanõ (1999, 2007) and Capparelli (1982, 1986), on Brazilian TV, and by Kneipp (2017), on TV potiguar. The study also included contributions from Williams (2016), Jost (2011, 2007), Wolf (2015) and Wolton (1996) on television media, in addition to research on regional television in Lima (2010, 2001, 200), Bazi (2016, 2001), Fábbri Júnior (2006), Aguiar (2016), Moreira (2019, 2015, 2009) and Santos (2008, 2006, 2007, 2006). The research also proposed to conceptually discuss the new ecology of regional television. Therefore, it included contributions from McLuhan (1962, 1964), Postman (1994, 1979), Scolari (2015, 2014, 2010), Canavilhas (2023, 2011), Strate and Braga (2019), Becker (2022, 2016 ), Jenkins (2008) and Fechine (2014). Therefore, based on the studies carried out and the results achieved by this research, it is believed that this work presents itself as another contribution to the development of knowledge about regional television in Brazil, mainly in Rio Grande do Norte.

Health campaigns play a substantial role in fostering dialogue between society and public health organizations. It was through these campaigns that the Ministry of Health carried out specific communication actions aimed at combating congenital and acquired syphilis in Brazil. Against this backdrop, the general aim of this doctoral thesis is to propose an evaluation model for health campaigns, based on the case of the national health campaign entitled “Lembre de se cuidar. Sífilis. Teste, trate e cure”, which is also the subject of this research. To support the evaluation model, we articulated the empirical data with the theoretical framework on communication and health (SOARES; CARDOSO, 2007; ALBARADO, PRADO AND MENDONÇA, 2019), health campaigns (ATKIN AND RICE, 2012) and campaign evaluation (SNYDER, HAMILTON AND HUEDO-MEDINA, 2009; FRENCH et al., 2014; FRIEDMAN et al., 2016; ANKER et al., 2016). Based on an analytical movement involving theory and empirics, the methodological process was systematized into five phases: (I) Integrative review on indicators for evaluating health promotion campaigns: collection and selection of indicators (understanding of the message, effect of the campaign, effectiveness and acceptability); (II) Definition of the corpus: “Lembre de se cuidar. Sífilis. Teste, trate e cure” campaign; (III) Collection of empirical data through Focus Groups - Young People, Diversity, Health Professionals and Pregnant Women; (IV) Analysis of the data based on Grounded Theory and validation of the indicators and (V) Proposal of the Health Campaign Evaluation Model. Among the results of this research, we highlight the proposition of a theoretical-descriptive model for evaluating communication campaigns called I-P.A-AS (Information Targeted at the Audience to Stimulate Action for Health), structured in three main dimensions: 1) Information and Health Strategy; 2) Involvement of the Audience and 3) Action for Health. The model also validates the results of the grounded theory of the data, proving Health Information as the main dimension for directing the communication strategies of a health campaign. It is hoped that the implications presented throughout this thesis, especially the analysis model, will provide new perspectives for the field of communication and health, allowing the model to be applied in the implementation and evaluation of campaigns.

With the aim of identifying the characteristics of the media narratives constructed by digital influencers from Natal (RN) in Instagram Stories, which is the basis of this thesis research. Starting from the concepts of narrative (Aristotle, 2008; Barthes, 2011; Ricoeur, 1984, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1999) to focus on a media narrative (Silverstone, 2011; Motta, 2004, 2012, 2013; Barbosa, 2017), approaches that meet and complement theoretical research that still uses the themes of mediatization (Sodré, 2002, 2014, 2021; Hjarvard, 2015; Hepp, 2014; Couldry; Hepp, 2020), exposure of the self (Sibilia, 2016) and influence digital (Abidin; Karhawi, 2021; Karhawi, 2016, 2018, 2020). The empirical research, in addition to the theoretical one, is based on ethnographic inspiration (Fragoso; Recuero; Amaral, 2011), through the data collection techniques of direct observation and field diary. After monitoring the analyzed profiles for three years (2021, 2022, and 2023), we created a sample of 904 Stories, lasting seven days (12/17/2021, 02/10/2022, 09/05/2023, and 09/09/2023). To read the collected material, we used Motta's Pragmatic Narrative Analysis (2013), divided into seven narrative movements, five of which were the basis for applying the author's Theory and Narrative Analysis (2013) to develop our method. Analytical, capable of being replicated in other similar research. As a result, we have: 1) The construction of stratified media narrative practices on Instagram Stories, organized into Intimacy Strata, Advertising Strata, and Reposts; 2) The theoretical constitution of “Self Characters” by the analyzed group; And, finally, 3) The dramatic conflict of Digital Influence. Instagram Stories can, therefore, be understood as a contemporary device for media storytelling practices.

Taking as starting points the contemporary media ecosystem and the mediatization of the life-world, this paper conducts a theoretical investigation of the home, understanding it as a symbolic and environmental experience. The theoretical proposals of Media Ecology, where the medium behaves as an environment or as a space with complex dynamics; and Mediatization, identified as a process of intersections between everyday life and media; allowed us to visualize changes in the production of the home and its spread beyond the domains of domestic spaces. Thus, the sense of dwelling proposed by Martin Heidegger (2006) meets here with the productions of space (LEFEBVRE, 2013) and everyday life (CERTEAU, 2012), with the subjectivity of the spaces of the house (BACHELARD, 2008), the relationships between body, city, and media (FLUSSER, 2002; SENNETT, 2003; DI FELICE, 2009), nomadism (MAFFESOLI, 2001), mediatization (HJARVARD, 2008), and media ecology (MCLUHAN, 2003; SCOLARI, 2015). Recognizing the home, as well as its spread over the territory, as an intersubjective experience, we anchor ourselves to Alfred Schutz's social phenomenology (1979) in order to understand the processes that involve the subject and their collaboration in the development of an identitary space with systemic and deterritorialized dynamics. This space, which is the home, does not require a delimited place with limited opportunities for access, nor do its inhabitants need to be aware if and when they constitute a home, given that dwelling is their condition of existence and that media promote new forms of sensitivity.
