The production of news in a hybrid format in TV Globo's network television journalism

This PhD thesis arose from the hypothesis of the lack of a specific bibliography that addresses in an integrated, systematic and meaningful way the hybridizations made in new news formats that do not fit into the existing classical nomenclatures and advances on concepts already structured by theorists who developed important studies about newsmaking. It also presents a comparative theoretical analysis between the language of television journalism and the technology available at that time. As for the approach to the subject, it is characterized as a mixed methods research. Thus, initially, the approach is quantitative and then it becomes qualitative. To define the research corpus, it was decided to build three weeks with the analysis of the editions of each of the five TV newscasts (Hora 1, Bom Dia Brasil, Jornal Hoje, Jornal Nacional and Jornal da Globo) aired nationally by TV Globo. In total, there were: 15 editions of H1, which represents 28 hours, 12 minutes and 3 seconds; another 15 from BDBR, with another 15 hours, 54 minutes and 8 seconds; 18 of JH, which adds up to 11 hours, 50 minutes and 54 seconds; another 18 from JN representing in time for 13 hours, 22 minutes and 4 seconds; and finally another 15 from JG, with another 9 hours, 5 minutes and 36 seconds. Thereby, it is possible to build the profile of each newscast and arrive at a picture of the news program itself, adding all the data and, statistically, presenting a representation of TV Globo network newspapers. It was also analyzed qualitatively, for this reason, what was called, in this work, the Parameters Worksheet was created. In it, 18 hybrid formats were identified, which also gained conceptualization, description and exemplified: Ao vivo coberto; Ao vivo direto; Ao vivo ilustrado; Cabeça ao vivo; Cabeça ilustrada; Nota coberta do repórter;  Nota direta; Nota ilustrada; Nota pé ao vivo ; Nota pé coberta; Reportagem ao vivo; Retomada; Stand-up coberto; Stand-up completo; VT do apresentador; VT em conjunto; VT repartido; and, VT sonora. The general and specific objectives of the Thesis were met by working with the phenomenon of hybridization of news formats and by showing how much technology influences the language of telejournalism.
