The present research aims to analyze the filmic narratives Wings of Desire (Der Himmel Über Berlin) by Wim Wenders (1987) and Undine (Undine) by Christian Petzold (2020). The filmic texts show the symbolic representations of German society, addressing social tensions in the filmic urban spaces in order to reflect the complex relationships surrounding society and the phenomena that comprise it in the historical periods of each film. Wenders shows a historical period of tension in German society and Petzold evokes the folkloric traditions of the German imagination through myths. In this way, they bring complex concepts to the narrative, such as memory (HALBWACHS, 1990; NORA, 1993; RICOEUR, 2007) and identity (POLLAK, 1992; BAUMAN, 2005; HALL, 2006). From that, we propose to investigate, in the text-film, the elements and technical mechanisms that involve filmmaking in order to understand the historical facts represented in the urban space of Berlin and the representations about national identity and fragmented identities. Some theoretical-methodological procedures are adopted as the qualitative approach (MINAYO et al 2009; CHIZZOTTI, 2005), through the use of film analysis based on Penafria (2009), Vanoye and Goliot-Lété, (2016).
