SUMMARY:

Gender-based violence (GBV) reflects power inequalities between one sex over the other, motivating heinous crimes and serious human rights violations. The topic is being debated increasingly on online social networks. The present research, therefore, seeks to describe the social impacts and relationships around the term “Offensive Rape” through messages (tweets) on the social network, Twitter, associated with the hashtag “#NãoExisteEstuproCulposo” (“There is no wrongful Rape”). To do so, we will use the theoretical framework of the Actor-Network Theory (LATOUR, 2012, 2007; LAW, 1999; CALLON, 1986) operationalized from the Cartography of Controversies (VENTURINI, 2010) in addition to the tensions and through other authors who think about the violence of gender, power and institutional violence. From the perspective of a human and increasing search for the “Digital Sociology”, more and more sociological understanding, a unique escape from social networks that increasingly becoming mediation of digital devices and networks.
