SUMMARY:

In a sociohistorical context in which there is a high distrust rate in political parties and a professional deontology of journalism that preaches values like objectivity, impartiality and neutrality, the Brazilian political journalism searches to paste in itself an image of apartisanship, in order to not lose credibility towards its public. Thus, this work aims to analyze the ethos of the news discourse of a journalistic media that presents itself as apartisan. We drew on the theory of discursive ethos in Maingueneau's Discourse Analysis to analyze the discursive ethos of the journalistic website Congresso em Foco. Thus, we can identify its discourse's effective ethos from the relation among its pre-discursive ethos, the ethos of political journalism, its said ethos, markedly its institutional ethos, and its shown ethos in twelve news published in the first half of 2018.
