Digital communication has transformed the forms of visibility of public, private and civil society institutions and the ways of interaction and relationship between these organizations and citizens, who seek more transparency in information of public interest and in meeting their demands. This investigation seeks to analyze how the communication practices of the Federal Senate on Facebook are evidenced. For this, it is necessary to investigate the communicative practices that guide the dissemination of news through the page of this Legislative House on Facebook, aiming to contribute to a public communication model. The objectives are to verify whether the information published by the Legislative is consistent with the assumptions governing public communication and identify the practices that guide the work of writing, and analyze how the Federal Senate interacts with citizens. The theoretical discussion is based on the concepts of public communication, its principles and forms (ZÉMOR, 2012; DUARTE, 2012; BRANDÃO, 2012), in a context of growing virtual presence of institutions (HJARVARD, 2014; CASTELLS, 2015), parting from the fundamental prerequisites for interaction (RECUERO, 2012; PRIMO, 2011). The method employed will be discourse analysis (CHARAUDEAU, 2012), with observation and description of online practices. The qualitative analysis will be guided by the information released from July to December 2017.
