RESUMO:

This work aims to analise the audiovisual documentary appropriation in Brazilian production of films-essay produced in the 1990's. It is considered here the practice of reuseing images and sounds that are originated from different media and sources, their documentary recombination in edition and in production of an archive effect which is observed in two films-essay that deals with the cinema's imagination of the city": São Paulo: Sinfonia e Cacofonia (Jean-Claude Bernardet, 1994) e São Paulo: Cinemacidade (Aloysio Raulino, Marta Grostein, Regina Meyer, 1994).
