RESUMO:

In the last years, the water scarcity has remained in the Brazilian
public debate in consequence of the great droughts that affected the
northeast and southeast regions of the country. Because it fits in different
criteria of newsworthiness (public interest, actuality, novelty, routine and
conventional break), the event "water crisis" has aroused the journalism
interest. In São Paulo, the main economic and cultural center of the country and
the largest city in Latin America, about 20 million people have been affected by
the worst drought of the last 80 years. Starting from this context and the current
conjuncture of sensory and informational hypertelia, this study investigates how
the journalistic coverage of the Jornal Folha de São Paulo made it possible or
not for the “Paulist water crisis” event to become an Event in the New Theory of
Communication proposed terms: Communication is an event that altering, that
violates the thought. According to this theoretical perspective, much more than
information, the dense communication approximates from art, insofar as both
present themselves as forms of sensitive apprehension of the world, of feeling
the world around (aisthesis) when is building new senses. The Metáporo has
been chosen as a research procedure with the purpose of chasing and feeling
the vibrations of the event in the atmospheric media continuous. Therefore, the
object was investigated from the observer-enjoy perspective: researcher as the

one who observes and studies the communication unfolding in himsef and
presents the research results in the form of a metaporic story of the event.
