This study aims to understand the senses experienced and reinterpreted in the social networks comments on the event “Alcaçuz”, the rebellion that happened in January 2017 at the State Penitentiary of Alcaçuz, in the city of Nísia Floresta, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The concept of event has been used to refer to the facts that erupt in the routines of the subjects and the society in which they are inserted and that induce some kind of rupture with the ordinary. These events become increasingly complex in their symbolic dimension, when the media and their logics start to go through those of other fields, not only because of the visibility scheme they offer but also by being configured as a space of sociability and interaction. Thus,  the pragmatist approach of the event (QUÉRÉ, 2012, FRANCE, 2012b) is chosen as a theoretical contribution along with the concepts of mediatization and circulation (BRAGA, 2007, 2012). The French school of Discourse Analysis is the methodological approach used in this work (ORLANDI, 2009; BENETTI, 2016). A total of 25,726 comments were collected from Tribuna do Norte and El País Brasil Facebook pages, during the period from January 14 to 20, 2017. A pilot study was conducted in which 1000 comments were analyzed to evaluate the adequacy of this corpus. Through this initial study, five main Discursive Formations were identified – “A que ponto chegamos...”, “Espreme que sai sangue”, “A culpa é dos governantes”, “Os cidadãos de bem que pagam a conta” e “Bandido bom é bandido morto”–, on which is believed to be the way for the development of more specific cuts in both the problem and the analytical material.
