RESUMO:

Considering that the studies in the field of communication, in Brazil, are increasingly attentive to the theoretical-conceptual reflection about cyberactivism – within a general scope of noticeable proliferation of works –, it is verified, however, that they have little repercussion about investigations of the cyberactivist initiatives that involve the political struggles for LGBT rights. In this direction, it is questioned how the emergence of cyberactivist initiatives centered on LGBT political representation contributes to the consolidation of the demands of the movement and, consequently, to the deepening of democracy. It is anchored in the definition of cyberactivism as referring to the multiple practices of collective and individual subjects operated on the and in distributed digital communication networks that aim at the defense of certain causes to promote changes in society that favor the common experience, resorting to the circulation of ideas and of technical possibilities (tools) to generate forms of participation and intervention. In this way, we take as theoretical beacon discussions that gird the history of the LGBT movement, the conceptual and typological notions of cyberactivism as well as political representation. Thus, from a qualitative approach and monographic procedure (case study), the objective is to understand the performance of the #VoteLGBT initiative, developed on the and in digital communication networks distributed throughout the national elections of 2014 and 2016. To this end, based on direct observation, the contents of the initiative's website on the social networking site Facebook and the sites developed by it in both electoral periods are delineated as a sample; from the indirect observation, the technique of interview with members of the campaign is also used. For the analysis of the data, we use the Content Analysis (BARDIN, 1977) and the descriptive analysis. In this study, we start from the hypothesis that the meanings produced by cyberactivist initiatives, such as the desire to change socio-political and cultural reality, offer important insights about social relations in relation to gender and sexuality issues, as well as aspects of the system The electoral process itself or the functioning of the representative system and democratic forms, in order to contribute to a more participatory and democratic debate.
