RESUMO:

The Brazilian relationship with the Latin American subcontinent has not been marked with  similarities. Recent researchs tend to reveal that a big amout of Brazilians doesn´t feel the sense of Latin-American identity. This lack of identity is still very strong and the media don´t depict the region under an optimistic point of view. Sometimes, the angle used to portrait the subcontinent is not very optimistic. The current research, quantitative and qualitative, aims at analyzing how Brazilian press, namely Folha de S. Paulo e O Globo, normally take the region into account.
