RESUMO:

The brazilian northeastern landscape in the cinema can be searched in dimensions or successive layers by the use of theoretical reference of the Geography and Film studies resulting from the deepening of the cultural landscape concepts. From this reference, we will analyze the Northeastern landscape in contemporary cinema through the study of successive layers of meaning, emphasizing natural, human, subjective and symbolic elements that make up these cinematic spatialities. For this purpose, we will cover the development of representation of the Northeastern landscape over the Brazilian cinema cycles to reach the representation of space in contemporary Brazilian cinema through analysis of the film Suely in the Sky (O Céu de Suely, Karim Aïnouz , 2006). The concepts discussed are related to the revision of the dimensions of cultural geography resulting from cultural turn, using interpretive landscape settings as text, symbolic landscape, filmic place and cinematic landscape.
