SUMMARY:

Inserted in a context of financialization, resulting from the liberalization of capital flows, deregulation and integration of financial markets, cycles of expansion and recession are recurrent and inevitable in a monetary economy of production. Debts play a fundamental role in these movements, especially due to the importance of the dynamic role of financial institutions for investments and their financing (MINSKY, 1986). This is intensified by the development of the banking system and the expansion of credit as consequences of the financial deregulations of the last decades of the 20th century. The moments of financial instability were driven by the technological leaps observed in the 21st century, especially those related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), which provided agents with new business spaces with the emergence of cryptoactives, Fintechs and the consolidation of Big Techs (Amazon, Google, Alibaba, Tencent, etc.), which have come to influence a large part of the financial services sector. Despite specific improvements in these services, new triggers of financial instability are evident, which increases vulnerability, especially in times of economic cycle crisis. From a Minskyan perspective, this work will seek to investigate the role of financial technologies in financial (in)stability.
