ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VIOLENCE IN THE RESIDENTIAL SURROUNDINGS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: THE CASE OF IFRN STUDENTS (CAMPUS NATAL CENTRAL AND NORTH AREA)

Studies that analyze the impact of violence on school performance tend to analyze its impacts within or around their schools, not making any mention of the violence experienced by students within their neighborhood. This paper innovates by trying to fill this gap. The objective os the presente paper is to analyze the relationship between school performance and the violence observed in the residential surroundings of the students from the IFRN Campus Natal Central and Zona Norte. To achieve this objective, two panel georeferenced databases will be used, which will allow tracing the profile of IFRN students and mapping violence in the city of Natal/RN. Finally, fixed effect and probit models will be used. The first will have the student performance (IRA) as a variable response and the second will have the student's approval dummy.
