RESUMO:

To think about the regional issue is to understand that there is a need to overcome certain disparities reproduced in the territory, from different perspectives, whether intra or interregional. The strong relationship between studies of regional imbalances with the economy is strongly emphasized in the field of study of regional economics. The use of adequate tools for public policy purposes has been a constant challenge regarding the search for reduction of regional inequalities within the regionalization of the territory itself. More recently, however, with the advent of the New Economic Geography (NGE) in the 1990s, the use of econometric tooling to exploit spatial effects allows us to capture an important element, sometimes overlooked before: the spatial factor. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to analyze regional inequalities, economic growth and productive structure by exploring spatial effects in the post-2000 years. Based on the guiding hypothesis that there is a reduction in regional inequalities, although intra-regional concentration prevails, taking into account increased regional convergence of economic growth and increased productivity in specific sectors according to each region. The justification of this study is based on the importance of investigating problems such as regional inequality from different perspectives, such as income, salary, employment, production, economic growth and productivity, the main conditions for promoting regional development. Therefore, as an empirical strategy, a set of methods explored from the spatial perspective will be used, namely: spatial panel data, growth convergence and shift-share combined with an Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (AEDE), aiming to meet the objective. proposed and investigate the problems of regional disparities in Brazil. The data are secondary in nature, coming from official bodies such as IBGE, RAIS and scientific journals. The results of this study are expected to signal a possible reduction of intra and interregional disparities in Brazil, and contribute to the elaboration and planning of public and economic policies, aiming at mitigating regional and social inequalities in the national territory.
