RESUMO:

This work seeks to understand the transformations occurring in certain places, and it is in this context that the theme addressed in the work is inserted, which will seek to understand and know about the development of the regions of Paraiba, as well as showing the current panorama of the development of the State. The work will present the regional development process, conditioned by the developmental aspects of the development of the regions and this process will be represented by measuring the development by the Municipal Human Development Index (IDHM), as well as by the Social Vulnerability Index (IVS) and Of other socio-economic indicators that in some way contemplate the essential elements of regional development. The paper presents a historical perspective of the economic formation of Paraíba, the elements that compose the theories of growth and development and the theory of poles of development. In order to present the indices of development and vulnerability, it was decided to construct a spatial weight matrix, giving the possibility of obtaining the static I de moram, Moran Dispersion Diagram and Local Spatial Association Indicators (LISA). The development discussion was mainly based on the LISA analysis. For the elaboration of the work, a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out, of an exploratory nature. As a result, there was an evolution in the performance of Paraíba's general indicators, as well as a concentration of development in the "polo" cities, mainly in the region of João Pessoa. Therefore, it is necessary to implement public policies for the development of the State, which is in a supporting role in the national and regional scenario, in addition to that, the State presents a high concentration index in the micro-region of João Pessoa . To develop the State, it is not only a question of alternatives to coexistence with natural effects, but above all it is to draw up means and policies of economic interconnection between all regions, seeking to optimize all the potential of the State, in order to achieve a more harmonious development between Regions that make up a particular state of the federation.
