RESUMO:

Every day more people seek knowledge, in this way, there is always the yearning to know ourselves, and to know the environment in which we are inserted, so that each day we can search the solutions and the reasons of life, reducing the uncertainties of tomorrow and Seeking the solutions of the "whys" of life. Thus, this work seeks to understand the transformations occurring in certain places, and it is in this context that the theme addressed in the work is inserted, which will seek to understand and know about the development of the regions of Paraiba, as well as showing the current panorama Development. The work will present the process of regional development, conditioned by the development aspects of the development of the regions and this process will be represented by measuring the development by the Municipal Human Development Index - HDI, as well as through the Social Vulnerability Index - IVS and other indicators Socioeconomic factors that in some way contemplate the essential elements of development. The paper presents a historical perspective of the Paraíba economics formation, presents elements on growth and development theories and development pole theory. In order to present the indices of development and vulnerability, an analysis was made to construct a spatial weight matrix, giving the possibility of obtaining the static I of moram, Moran Dispersion Diagram and the local indicators of spatial association - LISA. Developmental analysis was based mainly on the analysis of local indicators of spatial association. For the elaboration of the work a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out, of exploratory nature. As a result, there was an evolution in the performance of the general indicators of Paraíba, as well as a concentration of development in the "polo" cities, mainly in the region of João Pessoa, so we can see the need for public policies for development of State.
