Introduction: Asthma is a heterogeneous set of clinical conditions that vary in severity, onset, risk factors, triggering factors, response to treatment, genetic factors and natural history of the disease that negatively affects the quality of life of children and adolescents in several aspects. Objective: To carry out the translation, cross-cultural adaptation and analysis of the psychometric properties of the Adolescent Asthma Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (AASEQ) for the Brazilian population. Materials and methods: the study will involve translation procedures, reverse translation, a multi-professional committee of experts and pre-testing in a representative sample of the new population. To test the validity of the instrument, the General Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (GSES), the Asthma Control Questionnaire and the Asthma Knowledge Questionnaire will be applied. Expected results: It is expected that the AASEQ will be available for use by the Brazilian population, specifically for adolescents with asthma, to be used by health professionals who deal with individuals with asthma, to help identify clinical aspects that can be improved to obtain suitable treatment.
