STREAMING PLATFORMS AND THE UBERIZATION OF WORK: A STUDY ON WORK IN THE WORLD OF STREAMERS
Platform capitalism; Uberization; Streamers; New ways of working.
It is understood that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are central to the structural transformation of capitalism in the last decades of the 20th century, and even in the second decade of the 21st century they continue to revolutionize society as a whole. The arrival of the internet in everyday life has brought changes both in the way of relating and in the way of working, in this sense the research has as its object the work of the streaming professional, seeking to understand the development of uberization in this specific type of work. For this, we try to understand how the working relationships between streamers and the Twitch Tv platform take place, with the intention of obtaining these answers, an immersion in the platform will be carried out to understand its functioning, to investigate how much the 2017 labor reform contributed to uberization in Brazil, as well as interviewing streaming professionals in order to obtain qualitative and quantitative data. Methodologically, it will be necessary to carry out a participant observation in the virtual environment in which the lives are held and, in a second moment, carry out interviews with the observed streamers. With this, it is intended to understand specificities such as obtaining the “salary”, working hours, conflicts, flexibility, where labor laws enter, in order to be able to add to the literature ways of understanding the work category in contemporary times.
