SUMMARY:

The scientific knowledge of Psychology directs people with different biological sex to play different social roles. Those who do not fit this cis-heteronormative pattern, such as transgender people, are considered aberrations, sick people, and will not have their rights fully effected, in the most diverse environments. The right to mental health, for example, is often hampered in public spaces offered by the State, such as the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), whether due to lack of knowledge, rooted prejudice, or absence of formulation and implementation of public policies that promote this right. In this way, this work proposes to investigate, through the analysis of the speeches of the 08 (eight) Psychology professionals who provide services in the 04 (four) CAPS of the city of Mossoró, through a semi-structured interview with guarantee of anonymity, as they envision people with the transsexual gender identity, how they care for such people, because it is based on the hypothesis that there is a lack of knowledge about such an identity and there is also negligence or lack of care in the care for this public, in reason for prejudice.
