SUMMARY:

The 2022 general elections were marked by one of the most significant changes to the open-list proportional system since its creation in 1932: party federations. However, the new measure opened up flanks to be explored in research on the political and electoral system in Brazil, mainly in the face of a situation in which regional divergences that occurred during the 2022 elections prevented the composition between the subtitles or made it difficult for the federated acronyms to coexist. , reinforcing the existence of hypothetical ''regional parties'' even in the context of associations that consider themselves national. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to analyze the institute of federations of political parties in Brazil and its impacts on the constitution of national parties, especially during the 2022 elections. qualitative research with quantitative elements, focused on an investigation technique guided by content analysis, being a predominantly critical-descriptive research. Among the results expected in this research and considering the case of Brazil, we believe that our results can help to understand the process of political fragmentation, expressed by the problems of the parties and their low degree of nationalization. Theories linked to Political Science will be able, from this research, to advance their understanding of the role of building party federations.
