SUMMARY:

His research aims to investigate the theme of politics in the work of the writer and dramatist Antonin Artaud (1896-1948), especially in Heliogabalus or, the Crowned Anarchist (1934). Artaud has been studied in the last decades in the human sciences, mainly based on his theatrical, literary and cinematographic experiences, however little is debated about his political contributions; nor is Elagabalus given prominence. So, in addition to its purely aesthetic characteristics, it is convenient to appropriate what this text makes known to us politically. In this sense, this narrative about the life of the young Roman emperor reveals in a privileged way a singular perspective of what the political phenomenon becomes – this is not only the struggle between the “parties” and the State’s domain, but it is also the composition of languages, rites and scenic acts. Therefore, I argue that in the space of this work the process of carnivalization – conceptualized by Mikhail Bakhtin – appears as a central political element. For the proper realization of this argumentative line, I studied the corpus through thematic analysis, as well as writing a text of an essayistic nature: thus, in the movement of thought, I tried to gather elements discreetly separated from each other in a readable whole, as in a carpet. Once the pertinence of studying this poetic narrative has been demonstrated, I intend to contribute minimally to the construction of a complex vision of the political question, in order to provide us with a transdisciplinary understanding of its problems.
