SUMMARY:

This thesis focuses on collecting the discourse of people who were subjected to isolation and social distancing at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The speeches were collected from the application of a discourse collection instrument (open questionnaire), via Google Forms. The chosen audience was composed of adult and literate people, residing in places throughout Brazil, affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and subjected to some type of isolation or social distancing. The collection provided for several fronts/strands/aspects to be discussed, with the central themes and sub-items of the questionnaire addressing issues related to social isolation and its affective, mental health, economic, social and spiritual implications. The study is justified by its scope, originality and valuable contribution to several areas of knowledge, in addition to serving as a diagnostic tool for understanding the needs of a society subjected to a pandemic process. The field of social representations (BOURDIEU, 2011), biopolitics (FOUCAULT, 1978-1979) and emotions (REZENDE E COELHO, 2010) were the theoretical strongholds for analyzing the collected data. Studies like this stimulate important debates in the Social Sciences, as they stimulate discussion between different theories, enable the elaboration of new worldviews and help in the formulation of public policies that meet the needs of the population, needs that are not limited to just issues of practical life, but that deal with the integrality of the being, offering a place of speech so that people can be heard about their perceptions about a certain fact, how it impacts their lives and how they are dealing with it. One of the ways to understand what has been going on in consciences and the impacts of the different measures adopted during this crisis, as well as the duration of their effects, is through the Content Analysis method, as a qualitative method of content analysis ( BARDIN, 1977), allows obtaining quantitative data from a subject's speech, based, properly, on Moscovici's Theory of Social Representations (1978) and on the Theory of Social Reproduction (BOURDIEU, 1978), when seeking more directionally the sociocognitive schemes , proposed by Bourdieu (1983). Through this methodology, structured mixed questionnaires (with objective and subjective questions) were applied throughout Brazil, in a joint effort to collect the speeches of Brazilians in the five regions of the country.
