Russia militarily invaded Ukraine on February 27, 2022 and, not unlike the world, Brazil is still astonished trying to understand why a country points its cannons at a people with whom it nurtures affective and even umbilical genealogical ties. This doubt is understandable. The war echoes on the other side of the planet and what happens in eastern strongholds is not the usual subject of the news in the newspapers. Or it is from the perspective of the West. In communication conglomerates, the prevailing narrative is that of genocidal and cruel Russia. From a feared and hated president, Russian Vladimir Putin, the psychopath thirsty for irrational expansionist obsessions. From a sympathetic and cautious West. Of a Ukraine that withers, but resists. Some of the view of the role of the United States/NATO in destabilizing the region known as Euraria and escalating the conflict. The world watches this scenario on TV and cell phone screens, on radio waves, in newspapers - and the question that remains is: is this the stark reality or has journalistic seriousness also been a victim of the war?
