SUMMARY:

This text aims to present previous elements of doctoral research.The proposal that underlies the study starts from the understanding of the pilgrimage events of Juazeiro do Norte from the conception of non-devotees or subjects who have a weak relationship with Father Cícero.Thus, the study is based on the eyes of the subjects who go to Father Cicero's pilgrimages, taken by motivations that distance themselves from pretensions linked to the devotional aspect. The work starts from the attempt to think the Juazeiro do Norte pilgrimages through the notion of deviation (BECKER, 2008), thus constituting an idea of deviated pilgrimage. The reflection on deviant behavior in the pilgrimage is being thought through the conducts that oppose a pilgrimage directed mainly by the questions of devotion to the saint, a classic perspective.The work suggests an analysis, considering those that differ from the classical approach based on the consolidated conception of a pilgrimage based on the understanding of devotion to the saint. The relevance of the research is justified by the opportunity to look at the pilgrimages of Juazeiro do Norte based on an understanding of pilgrimage built through the practices of subjects who do not have Father Cicero as a feeling of affection, devotion. The methodological process is supported by bibliographical analysis, observations with the pilgrimages, as well as interviews. Considering the immersion to the field, the text presents categories such as contractual and deviant pilgrimage that were built based on participant observation that will be improved during the doctoral process.This paper is divided into five stages: contextualization of the empirical field, research trajectory, followed by the first chapter listing the construction of the problem and the second chapter presenting a discussion about pilgrimages and some peculiarities about pilgrim events in Juazeiro do Norte. The two chapters arise by listing discussions that will be dealt with more densely during the fieldwork process. The text concludes with notes on questions that will be reflected during the research.
