RESUMO:

The present work deals with the Social Representations about the concept of school in the view of the students of the 1st year of High School Atheneu Norte-Riograndense. The methodological technique used was the Discourse of the Collective Subject (DSC), because it allowed a rescue of the relevant Social Representations relevant to the comprehension of the discourse incorporated by the students, also the questionnaire was used for a closer approximation of the reality of the students in question. The results of the textual analyzes indicated that the representations are crossed by cognitive, social and affective dimensions. For the students of the School: The school is a place of learning, coexistence, preparation for university and for the job market. By paying attention to their students' statements about the school, instrumented by Theory of Social Representations, it is hoped to be able to help in providing the necessary knowledge for a participatory, interactive, complex and modern school, in keeping with the advances of the 21st century.
