RESUMO:

This work is a case study about Venezuela that emerges in the international scenario from 2013, the year of the death of Hugo Rafael Chávez Frias, the main leader of the political process known as the Bolivarian Revolution. Despite being elected for another term in 2012, Chavez would succumb to cancer the next year before taking office. According to constitutional forecast, new elections were called, and Nicolás Maduro Moros, Chavez's political successor, is victorious. The narrow margin, compared to the second place in the 2013 ballot, is used as a pretext by the right-wing opposition and its foreign allies to challenge the legitimacy of the process. From the beginning of his administration, Maduro faces not only an economic crisis, due to falling oil prices, but also a fierce opposition, which gained strength from the 2015 elections, when he won the majority of seats in the National Assembly. Within South America, a right-wing turnaround in countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador has begun an unprecedented process of political and diplomatic isolation in the Caribbean country. Such a regional shift, combined with the deepening of economic sanctions by the United States, encouraged various coup endeavors and strengthened the problems faced by the Venezuelans. It is in the face of this complex context of crisis that this work intends to initiate its analytical effort. Through a qualitative research and an exploratory approach, the following question will be answered: in the struggle for political survival of the Bolivarian project, what is the characterization of the resistance measures of the current Venezuelan government in the face of internal and external adversities? Data collection will occur through a combination of two collection techniques: bibliographical and documentary research. The general objective is to construct an analysis of chavismo in the Nicolás Maduro period, the time span from 2013 to 2019. The specific objectives are: a) to describe, in a systematic and chronological way, the internal and regional political scenario with which Venezuela in management Nicolás Maduro; b) To review the concept of imperialism and the current elaborations regarding what becomes multipolarity; c) analyze the main measures of the Maduro government in the political, economic and social fields. It will be tried to confirm the hypothesis that part of the political choices made by chavismo envereda by choices that already have been mistaken in other experiences of the left during the last century. These include the insistence on alliances with sectors of the so-called national bourgeoisie, and the establishment of pragmatic alliances in the international arena, based on the argument of the construction of a supposed anti-imperialist field, which manifests itself under a vague, which revolves around the defense of a world multipolarity.
