RESUMO:
This investigation propose a communication ethnographic study among Mendonça Potiguara people, which are located in three indigenous communities in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The study focus on the community communicative processes as well as its relation with the digital environment. We seek to comprise how the digital tools have been used by that group analyzing the indigenous community Facebook page: “Santa Terezinha Povo Mendonça Potiguara” and “Amarelão em Foco” blog page. Based on investigative study and also based on the concept of virtual bios (Lisbon, 2009), we point the hypothesis that the indigenous immersion in virtuality and adherence to cyberspace implies a new qualification of life. Abyssal thinking is described by Santos (2009) as a field of social invisibility where there is suppression forces acting upon the inhabitants of this social space. This is a sociological context which the indigenous people are inserted. Through that perspective we aim to understand how the communicative practices resulting from the actions of the abyssal inhabitant cause cracks in the radical line. In addition, we will observe how our study empirics thoughts can reflect on communication role applied to indigenous context.
