RESUMO:

This paper’s aim an analyses of the life histories of lesbian women who belong to the Affirmative Group of Independent Women (GAMI), located in Redinha’s Neighbourhood, in Natal/RN city. It started from the problem of lesbian women having to face social invisibility and lesbophobia in their everyday lives, besides sexism and other ways of discrimination. Nevertheless, these women have created different forms of agencies in order to resignify their life experiences. They have also started seeking manners of strengthening their identities, doing that so, they can claim their social and political rights. It’s a qualitative approach. This paper is built by the field work, applying participant observation and open interviews which are led by the life histories of the lesbian women from the GAMI group.
