RESUMO:

This thesis consists of translating the social itinerary of the renowned Brazilian musician Oriano de Almeida (1921-2004), in particular, from his writings of memories, with the purpose of presenting a writing of himself underlying the narrated, a writing of himself that Makes overflow narratives about his musical formation, elements that constitute a certain social time and characters and places of the Brazilian artistic scene, with emphasis on the first decades of the twentieth century. The work deals with scenes from a national pianist, the golden age of schools and piano conservatories in Brazil. In speaking of himself Oriano reconstructs fragments of a social environment and gives meaning to his formative process, revealing nuances of his social journey in music. The landscapes of the thesis are outlined in the context of the family contexts, the sociomusical scene of the Belle Époque Potiguar and Brasileira, the memories of the piano master, Magdalena Tagliaferro, and her pedagogical mediation, as well as the path of the artist remade by testimonies Of recognition of his work, through narratives present in letters of relatives, friends and musicians of recognized international prestige. This writing of itself brings with it a rationality that runs counter to the waste of social experiences and is anchored in an ecology of knowledge that produces visibilities and recognition, according to the thought of the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos (2001, 2006, 2007, 2008). Reason and sensibility unite in this work in a perspective of a science that dreams (Almeida, M. 2003), in that it presents Oriano man and his affections, through a cartographic approach of his writings of memories and Correspondences, which deal with piano, career, homesickness, love and friendship of notable people of the musical and cultural universe of his time. In addition to the letters, precious research findings, two are the writings of Oriano de Almeida's memories used as raw material for this work: the unpublished manuscript titled Children's Scenes and the book "Madgalena, Dona Magdalena" in which he records the memories Of the coexistence with the teacher of piano Magdalena Tagliaferro, important Brazilian artist of international reputation. The reconstruction of chords of the life of the musician on canvas was carried out in dialogue with scholars of the epistemological field of social memory, especially Ricouer (2004) and Halbwachs (1968). The trajectory of this itinerary brings to light a reflection on the social and scientific relevance of the studies of memories, social itineraries or life trajectories on notable people of the Brazilian artistic field, those who brightened the stages of life, as prudent knowledge and against ostracism of his art.
