RESUMO:

Gender violence has been recognized, debated and problematized over the last decades, above all, as a social problem. Unquestionably, a basilar element for the discussion of gender violence is the struggle of feminist movements that claim women as subjects of law and recognition. In this sense, Law 11.340 / 2006, Lei Maria da Penha, was constituted in Brazil as a response of the State to the demands of the feminist movements, this objective to curb and punish domestic and family violence. In this way, the dissertation problematizes if this instrument to combat violence is effective in the city of Natal, above all, if the performance / impact of the Law has reflected socially in the capital of Potiguar. Thus, the research The pain marks: the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law in the city of Natal / RN has as general objective to evaluate the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law in the city of Natal / RN The methodological process will consist of a review of the literature on gender , Domestic violence, public policies and evaluation of public policies for the construction of the theoretical framework, as well as documentary analysis of the Law interviews with public managers involved in the theme, feminist movements and women attended by the Law in the city of Natal.
