RESUMO:

Our work has the purpose of analyzing the social representations of the sociology teacher in the face of the change in the compulsory nature of the discipline in the high school curriculum, considering as a central objective of the analysis the teaching and learning of Sociology in schools: state, private and technical (IFRN), through the new law change that makes the discipline optional. For this, we will work in two dimensions: theoretical and empirical. The first will be based on authors of the area of social representation, school space and studies related to the formation of the professor of Sociology; Our empirical space will be six schools located in different neighborhoods in the city of Natal / RN, where we will conduct interviews with professors with a degree in Sociology. In this moment of qualification we will deal with the historical contextualization of the entry and exit of Sociology in the curriculum of High School, in the sequence we will address more current issues in our country occurred in 2016, where Sociology is once again no longer compulsory, leading teachers and Students to fight against the provisional measures that culminated in the bill that makes Sociology optional. Thus, we will also address some aspects of the students' invasion of schools as a form of protest against this vote, that even before the national demonstrations of teachers and students MPV 746/2016 (Provisional Measure No. seven hundred and forty-six of two thousand And sixteen) was approved. In the last chapter, not yet present in this work, we will emphasize the school space and the expectation of the teachers in the formation of the young people and also how they see their situations in this new context of the Reformation of the Secondary School. Finally we will present the results of the interviews, presenting the reports and the analysis of the interviewees, where from these analyzes we will demonstrate the social representations of these professors licensed in Sociology before the new Brazilian educational scenario and sequentially, the final conclusions.
