RESUMO:

Neo-Pentecostal Churches asseverate the Holy Spirit’s action on the believers, which supplies a greater mobility of their bodies during church services and shows. Those churches have been embracing, at different levels, the gospel movement, inserting cultural expressions and dances into their services. Thus, the body begins to be always in evidence, favoring situations in which tensions may immerge between the theological discourses aimed at the regulation and control of the body and a religiosity which includes dances and gives value to the body. Having Neo-Pentecostal Church Verbo da Vida in Campina Grande-PB as empirical object for this research, the purpose of this research was 1) to verify if the pedagogies of corporality, which have the Holy Spity’s action on the believer’s body as their intention, result in the exercise of the Care of the Self which integrates itself or not to the bodily regimes which regulate the use of the body; 2) to verify if the performances of corporality alleviate indeed, as it is affirmed, the body repressions  use  as they provoke a liberation sensation in the moments of religious effervescence.  Our hypothesis is that the various experiences initiated by the communion in the Holy Spirit open possibilities of disruption with the bodily regimes Institutionalized. The theoretical perspective in this work has been founded on the pedagogy of the body approach, and on the concepts of technologies of power and technology of the self. The research had a qualitative character, observations was used for its realization, and in a secondary way, semi structured surveys.
