SUMMARY:

A systematic mapping of turbidite systems in the central sector of the Brazilian Equatorial Margin (BEM) was conducted through a seismostratigraphic and seismostructural interpretation of 2D seismic surveys. The identification of these turbidite systems has been based on the correlation with typical seismic patterns of turbidite sequences found in the giant fields of the Ghana and Ivory Coast basins (Africa) and in the Guianas. A special seismic attribute was employed to assist in the mapping of the turbidite systems.
