SUMMARY:

A common problem regarding seismic interpretation is the relative limitation of the effective
bandwidth of the analyzed seismic data. One of the methods used to improve the frequency is the
separation of seismic data into spectral bands, followed by the application of structurally controlled
filters in each band and subsequent recomposition of the full-band seismic volume. This procedure
results in a better signal-to-noise ratio, as well as increasing the resolution of the seismic data. In this
research, this process was carried out in a 3D seismic volume in the Estreito/Alto do Rodrigues area,
south-central portion of the Potiguar rift, aiming to optimize the bandwidth of the seismic data,
improving its vertical resolution, in association with the application of structurally controlled filtering
to increase the signal/noise ratio, improve lateral continuity of reflectors and highlight faults and
fractures. Furthermore, the similarity, pseudo-relief, fault likelihood and thinned fault likelihood
attributes were applied to the reconstructed spectral volumes to assist in the seismostructural analysis.
With these results, it can be compared which band is most suitable for fault identification and mapping,
as well as evaluating the improvement in the seismic character.
