SUMMARY:

Located on the Brazilian Equatorial Margin (BEM), the study area is part of the newest Brazilian exploratory frontier in deep and ultra-deep waters. However, the BEM lacks studies and the selected area in the extreme east of the Potiguar Basin is one of the least known. In this sense, the aim of this work was to map the region in the Brazilian Continental Slope, adjacent to Cabo Calcanhar (RN) between the 100 m and 2,000 m isobaths. Multibeam bathymetric data collected from June to July 2022, aboard the Cruzeiro do Sul Hydroceanographic Vessel (MB) were used. Data were processed using the CARIS 11 Software and Digital Terrain Maps (MDT) were exported using the same software. Based on the analysis and interpretation of the data, considerations were made about the seabed. Throughout the study area, 10 Canyons were identified, which were divided into two groups:; A and B, regarding morphological characteristics. The Canyons in Campo A have an average length of 14.5 km and a width of 2.5 km, while the Canyons in Campo B are larger with an average length of 21 km and a width of 3.5 km. The slope of the Continental Slope, presented in the bathymetric profiles, presented a variation from 0o to 35o. In the canyon walls, ravine features and feeding ravines, circular features and grooves in the middle slope, terraces, canyons and landslide scars in the outer slope and ocean basin were found.
