Near Surface imaging (GPR) of carbonatic beach ridges in Punta Rodriguez, Bahia San Antonio, Argentina
Coquina; Beach Ridges; GPR; Bahia San Antonio; Argentina.
The aim of this work is to show the GPR method efficiency (Ground Penetrating Radar) to image coastal ridges and identify the geophysical signatures, to generate a digital model of the deposits and propose a depositional architecture of these beach deposits. 14 GPR lines were acquired in the Punta Rodriguez region, Bahia San Antonio, Patagonia (Argentina), using a 400 MHz antenna. Based on terminations and pattern of reflectors, the sedimentary structures, geometries (external and internal) and stratigraphic surfaces were preliminarly identified. interpretation of other associated deposits and storm events (washover) were also performed.
