SUMMARY:

Mantle uplift is a common mechanism in tectono-magmatic evolution of slow and ultra-slow spreading ridges, such as the Equatorial Mid-Atlantic Ridge (EMAR). We identified large exposures of upper mantle/lower crust rocks, the Oceanic Core Complexes (OCC's), in the research area, which extends from São Paulo FZ (0o 50’ N) to Bogdanov FZ (7o 10’ N). We collected new geophysical data during the 1st and 2nd expeditions of the Geological Survey of Brazil (GSB) to DMAE, covering an area of 40,000 km2 of high-resolution (100m/pixel) bathymetry data. We had a dorsal segmentation by three large FZ and ten small NTD, with exposure of twelve large regions with exhumation of mantle rocks, the OCC's. This large exhumation of mantle rocks in DMAE has implications for its tectono-magmatic evolution, corroborating its construction/evolution with magmatic deficit.
