RESUMO:

The Rio do Peixe Basin belongs to the group of the interior basins of Northeast Brazil, originated in the Early Cretaceous rift event, during the opening of the South Atlantic. Recent researches have been presented new data for the tectonostratigraphic framework of Rio do Peixe basin, like the existence of an Early Devonian interval, the occurrence (punctual) of pyroclastic rocks and tectonic inversion event. This scenario requires more detailed studies which integrates the new knowledge into the existing. With this objective, the present work seeks to understand the tectonostratigraphic evolution of the Rio do Peixe Basin, studying an area located in the NW portion of the Sousa half-graben. For this, previous cartographic data, field surveys, interpretation of 3D seismic data and well analysis were used in an integrated manner. The area includes the flexural margin and the directional ramp of the Sousa halfgraben, where the Antenor Navarro and Sousa formations occurs, and includes part of the Santa Helena step, in which the Rio Piranhas formation emerges. These three units belong to the Rio do Peixe Group (Berriasian-Barremian). In the NW portion of the flexural margin, under the Antenor Navarro Formation and delimited by a low angle unconformity, finer‐grained rocks and sandstones of the Devonian sequence are identified. In the seismic data, filters and attributes were initially applied in order to highlight geological features. In subsurface, there is an erosional truncation between the basement and the sedimentary section, whose base comprises the Devonian sequence, separated from the Rio do Peixe Group by a low angle unconformity. For the seismostratigraphic interpretation, were analyzed the patterns of seismic facies and reflector terminations, allowing the delimitation of stratigraphics surfaces and units. About this, preliminary data obtained for the Devonian sequence aren’t sufficient enough for concise conclusions, and a more detailed analysis is under way. For the Rio do Peixe Group, it is possible to establish seismostratigraphic units and to correlate them to systems tracts. With respect to the structural interpretation, it is verified that the Sousa half-graben is separated from the eastern portion of the Santa Helena step by a normal large fault. Besides this, other faults (synthetics and antithetics) and folds were interpreted. It is observed that the most part of these structures reflect the Early Cretaceous rifting event, also existing evidences of an tectonic inversion. In order to optimize interpretations and clarify questions still presents, the petrographic, well and seismic analysis is underway.
