RESUMO:

The region of the Ponta do Tubarão State Sustainable Development Reserve is located on the northern coast of the state of Rio Grande do Norte and integrated into the Potiguar basin. It has an area of 130 km2 divided into a marine portion, coastal board, mangroves and 47.25 Km2 of vegetated and non-vegetated dunes that carry an aquifer system dunes and provides fresh water for local population, surroundings and maintains the estuarine system, rich in animal and plant species. The climate of the region is semi-arid, with an average precipitation of 521 mm / year and potential evapotranspiration of 2,054 mm / year, characterizing a high water deficit of 1533 mm / year. For the preparation of the potentiometric map and the underground flow, 47 wells were distributed in the region. The orientation of the groundwater flow is S - N with discharge in the estuarine and oceanic system. The hydrogeological parameters of transmissivity (T) is 1.67 x 10-3 m2/s, the permeability or hydraulic conductivity (K) is 4.13 x 10-4 m/s and the storage coefficient (S) is 0,05 (dimensionless) verified in previous works, carried out in 15 wells, with flows ranging from 2.0 to 5.59 m3/h, during a pumping period of 12 hours, two of which were accompanied by piezometers , located at 10 m and 14.71 m, and one of these wells, with a piezometer, with a duration of 24 hours of pumping. For the hydrochemical evaluation, 20 water samples from wells and one surface water (lake) were selected, totaling 21 water samples in January / 2018, distributed in the research area to better represent the hydrochemical characteristics and their interaction with nature of the extracts that compose the aquifer. To evaluate the quality, reliability and consistency of the laboratory  analysis data, the equation of calculation of ionic balance error (and%) was applied, with 87% of the samples being below 5% error and 13% until 10% error, so all samples were considered in the hydrochemical  interpretation. Regarding the chemical quality of the water, of the 21 samples analyzed, 11 samples are in the classification range for fresh water, 7 for brackish water and 3 for salt water. The bicarbonate type predominates in these waters (48%), with a higher incidence of bicarbonate calcium (33%), which often suggests recharge waters in calcareous aquifers, sandstones and others and sodium chlorite (24%). sea or salt water or dissolving halite. Although the samples are located near the coastline, the plots show a clear trend of passage from one facies to another, indicating a simple dissolution or mixing during the flow of groundwater.
