RESUMO:

Small ocean basins could record the mixed sedimentary prevenient from the continental shelf and deep marine environments. These environments are of great scientific interest. Besides that, as the search for new oil reserves advances to deeper waters, it becomes necessary acquisition and interpretation of geological and geophysical data. In this sense, well logs, bathymetric, gravimetric and conventional seismic data are some of the tools used to investigate these environments. The objective of this study is to investigate how small ocean basins has its tectono-sedimentary development limited by the continental margins, seamounts and Oceanic Fracture Zone. This work presents 920 km of post-stack conventional seismic lines and average penetration depth of 10.8 seconds. The study area comprises the Touros High and extends to seamounts of the archipelago Fernando de Noronha. The preliminary seismic-stratigraphic interpretation reveals marine onlaps, progradation in the slope region, mass loss processes as slumps, presence of faults, turbidite deposits indicators and continuous sedimentation in these small confined ocean basins.
