SUMMARY:

This work is dedicated to studying the Hydrological Heritage and its interaction with geodiversity, highlighting its importance for the practice of Geoconservation in the context of the Potiguar Cerrado Enclave. The focus is on proposing an assessment of water resources to serve as a subsidy for conservation. In order to achieve this objective, the study of the area was carried out, following the stage of choosing sites of interest, fieldwork and inventorying, culminating in the application of a proposed methodology for evaluating the Hydrological Heritage, considering not only its scientific or ecological importance, but also encompassing the associated socio-cultural, aesthetic and tourist aspects. The research applied this methodology to 15 sites of hydrological interest located in the context of the Potiguar Enclave, identifying 9 hydrosites that stand out in the Scientific and/or Aesthetic core value categories: The Coral Reef APA, the Punaú River Estuary, the Pureza Spring, the Catolé River Spring, the Pitangui waterfall, the Pedras lagoon, the Miza lagoon, the Vital lagoon and the Coração lagoon. The results obtained reveal the efficiency of this approach to assessing water resources, providing subsidies for the development of other initiatives to promote the conservation of this important heritage. In terms of its relevance, this research makes a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and the development of strategies to support water resources in the face of intense human activity, emphasising the importance of an integrated approach to managing these resources.
