COASTAL DYNAMICS OF URBAN BEACHES - AREIA PRETA, PRAIA DO MEIO AND PRAIA DO FORTE IN NATAL/RN, BRAZIL

          Coastal zones are ecologically vulnerable and fragile areas (MUEHER 1996). These spatialities have drawn the attention of the man who uses it disorderly due to economic, fishing, oil and tourist opportunities, activities that are developed under a capitalist perspective, which often does not care about the conservation of the natural environment. The study area comprises the beaches of Areia Preta, Praia do Meio and Praia do Forte located in Natal/RN. The research consists of monitoring the beach strip to obtain quantitative and qualitative data to understand the dynamics of the beaches under analysis. This research is based on the geosystem theory which allows an integrated analysis of the landscape. The practical procedures used were: bibliographic survey, field work in the four seasons of the year (February, June and October 2022 and February 2023), environmental characterization, topographic survey, sediment collection, hydrodynamic data collection and sedimentological analysis. This study aims to analyze the coastal dynamics of Areia Preta beach, Meio beach and Forte beach in Natal/RN during the years 2022 and 2023. or preventive measures, preventing situations of various risks and material losses.
